About

Our purpose

❦

To offer voluntary rest, structure, practical support and safer pathways for women, young people and children walking through the hardest seasons of their lives.

Huisintveld House exists for mothers, young people and children affected by family stress, family violence, housing instability, financial hardship, and the long work of rebuilding life. Our care is holistic and trauma-informed — built around practical support, emotional regulation, gentle routines, children’s wellbeing, and cultural safety.

We believe recovery is not extracted from women; it is restored to them. Every part of our model is designed to return a sense of agency, dignity, and quiet strength.

We are voluntary, strengths-based, and culturally respectful. We do not replace statutory systems — we offer a calmer alternative, a place to breathe, and a steady path forward.

Please note: Huisintveld House is currently in development and is not yet operating as a residential facility. Information on this website describes the vision, framework and proposed sanctuary model.

Guided by Lived Experience, Family Legacy and Future Care

A sanctuary in development

Huisintveld House is currently in development and is led by Christy Louise Stapleton as Founder, House Mother and Program Lead, with future staffing, governance and partnerships to be developed carefully as the sanctuary grows.

Christy Louise Stapleton founded Huisintveld House from lived experience, family history and a commitment to creating safer pathways for women, young people and children. Her work is shaped by housing insecurity, family stress, trauma, financial hardship, child protection involvement, domestic violence impacts and the lived reality of rebuilding life more than once.

Huisintveld House was created to offer what many families need before crisis becomes collapse: rest, structure, practical support, safety, skill-building and a place where people can be heard without shame.

“Trust grows when people feel heard, not when they are told what to do.”
— Christy Louise Stapleton

Family Legacy

The Women Behind Huisintveld House

Huisintveld House is named in honour of the Huis in ’t Veld family line and the women whose lives carried courage, migration, care and endurance across generations.

Maria Antonia Huis in ’t Veld

later Maria Antonia van Raay

Christy’s maternal grandmother. Born on 26 May 1921, Maria migrated from the Netherlands and built family life in Australia with Alfonsius Laurentius van Raay. Her story carries the strength of migration, motherhood, faith, family and quiet endurance.

Antonia Maria “Toni” Huis in ’t Veld

Maria’s sister

Born 14 February 1918, Toni’s story is connected to this land, and remains an important part of the Huisintveld House legacy research. Her memory represents the women whose wishes, work and care deserve to be remembered properly.

Ethel Daisy Hunt, née Wilson

Christy’s paternal great-grandmother

Born in 1884 and passing in 1965, Ethel belongs to the Wilson, Hunt and Stapleton family line. Her story is connected to women’s security, family trust, dignity and the protection of future generations. Huisintveld House continues the work of honouring women whose hopes for safety and stability were not fully realised in their lifetime.

These women were not perfect myths. They were real women connected to migration, family, land, survival, motherhood, loss and legacy. Huisintveld House carries their stories forward by creating a place where women and children can rest, reclaim strength, respond to life, and begin again.

About Us

Our story, in four parts

❦

Founder’s Story

Huisintveld House was born from lived experience, family history and a belief that women and children deserve more than crisis response. This section will share the founder’s story in her own words.

Matriarchs and Family Legacy

Our story is carried by women who endured, worked, protected, raised families and kept going. This section will honour the matriarchs whose strength shaped the heart of Huisintveld House.

Why Huisintveld House Exists

Huisintveld House exists to offer women and children a place to rest, reclaim and respond before crisis becomes permanent separation, homelessness or further harm.

The Vision Forward

Our vision is a sanctuary model where practical care, daily rhythm, nature, learning and community create real pathways toward stability.

Family trust and land legacy research is ongoing and described here respectfully and as work in development. Huisintveld House is currently in development and is not yet operating as a residential facility.
